Greater than, Less than, Equal to

We can compare three digit numbers by using place value. We start with the greatest place value, the hundreds place.

The number with the greater hundreds digit is the bigger number. If the hundreds are the same, we compare the tens. If the tens are the same, we compare the ones place.

We use the math symbols to write ‘is greater than’ , ‘is less than’ or ‘is equal to’.We will also learn an easy way of remembering these symbols.

We also guessed numbers to complete our comparison statements. We can choose any number as long as the comparison statement remains true.

Here‘s a worksheet for you to practise.
